What it is:
An extract from the comfrey plant found in Asia and Europe which has been used for centuries in healing remedies.
What it does:
Moisturizes, soothes, and helps compromised skin heal. Considered an effective moisturizing ingredient, and its gentle, non-irritating qualities make it an excellent addition to anti-aging products for those with sensitive or easily irritated skin - may also help to increase skin smoothness.
How it works:
Has strong wound healing properties, promoting cell regeneration in exposed skin weakened by environmental aggressions while also helping the skin to retain moisture.

Alpha-Arbutin
What it is:
An extract from the bearberry plant used to even skin tone.
What it does:
Improves skin tone and decreases appearance of dark spots by helping to inhibit excess melanin formation (or dark spots).
How it works:
It inhibits the function and activity of tyrosinase, an oxidizing enzyme that is responsible for the production of melanin in the body. While arbutin is a natural derivative of hydroquinone, this whitening agent doesn’t possess the same risks and side effects.

Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate
What it is:
A relatively new derivative of Vitamin C, preferred by many scientists for having superior stability and effectiveness.
What it does:
Helps with skin lightening, giving antioxidant protection from free radicals and environmental stress as well as increasing collagen production within the skin.
How it works:
It’s particularly lauded for reducing melanin production, the culprit behind age spots and hyperpigmentation. It’s also been shown to be more effective than water soluble Vitamin E in protecting against hydroxyl free radicals.

Aloe Vera
What it is:
A skincare ingredient derived from the leaves of the Aloe Vera plant. It has been used for skin soothing for more than 2,500 years.
What it does:
Its renowned to be excellent for all skin conditions and skin types. When used externally, Aloe Vera can rebalance dryness and calm delicate skin. Aloe also promotes collagen production and has excellent soothing and calming properties.
How it works:
Aloe Vera has a variety of vitamins and minerals that are anti-inflammatory and help skin with healing. It also protects skin’s moisture barrier by helping protect against trans-epidermal water loss.

Caffeine
What it is:
A substance that occurs in a variety of plants and has strong antioxidant properties.
What it does:
Helps soothe skin and visibly reduces puffiness, the look of lines and wrinkles, and decreases inflammation. Brightens and firms the appearance of skin.
How it works:
Caffeine is anti-inflammatory when used topically on the skin and improves circulation. It is classified as a vasoconstrictor, which means it constricts blood vessels and thus reduces swelling. The antioxidants help protect against environmental stressors and pollution.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (or Green Tea)
What it is:
Green Tea leaf extracts are rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin C and E which are powerful antioxidants, protecting the skin from oxidative and environmental stress.
What it does:
It has anti-inflammatory, astringent and toning properties, as well as excellent cell regenerative and protective qualities. It protects the skin cells from damage by free radicals and UVB damage. Green Tea is famous for its healing abilities, reducing epidermal stress.
How it works:
Green tea contains an abundance of polyphenols from epigallocatechin gallate, one of the most powerful antioxidants available. They inhibit collagenase, the enzyme that causes degradation of collagen. Green Tea also contains methylxanthines (alkaloids) that assist with reducing redness, irritation, and inflammation of the skin. Green tea is 20x stronger than the beneficial plant chemicals that are found in Vitamin E.

What it is:
A plant-based ingredient historically used to soothe and calm, especially in medicine and tea.
What it does:
Chamomile is a great skincare ingredient to soothe the skin, especially if it is sensitive.
How it works:
Chamomile extract contains active flavonoids compounds that are advantageous in the care of skin that is sensitive. Its anti-inflammatory properties are due to the inhibition of the release of histamine. It has a remarkable vasodilator action that augments blood flow to the skin and soothes irritation.

Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil
What it is:
An emollient oil derived from the safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) plant.
What it does:

What it is
Centella Asiatica is a plant or herb that is rich in amino acids, beta carotene, fatty acids, and phytochemicals.
What it does:

How it works:

What it is:
An extract that comes from Red Algae. Due to it being a seaweed extract it is packed full of vitamins and minerals which are vital to the maintenance of healthy skin.
What it does:
It is known for its ability to create a shield like barrier to protect itself from environmental stress.
How it works:
On the skin, Chondrus Crispus Extract provides barrier protection, helping to lock in moisture to prevent against water loss while also aiding in the prolonged delivery of other active ingredients within the skin.

Glycerin
What it is:
A popular humectant that is so effective it is used in many forms of beauty and skincare products.
What it does:
Acts like a sponge, attracting moisture to the skin’s surface and creating a protective barrier to lock it in.
How it works:
Bonds with moisture in skin and builds heat, producing an exothermic reaction. Glycerin pulls moisture to skin’s surface, keeping it hydrated.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract
What it is:
A plant-based extract from the Licorice Root.
What it does:
It helps reduce surface oil and calms and soothes the skin, as well as improves the appearance of dark spots.
How it works:
This ingredient has anti-microbial, anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties as well as potent brightening properties on the skin by inhibiting the production of an enzyme needed to produce melanin.

Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (Granactive Retinoid™)
What it is:
It is a cosmetic grade ester of Vitamin A, the gold standard in anti-aging skincare ingredients.
What it does:

What it is:

What it is:
An extra from the jojoba plant, found in the desert.
What it does:
It has excellent moisturizing and protective effects as it reduces transepidermal water loss, keeping skin soft.
How it works:
Jojoba is rich in Vitamin E and has been shown to enhance skin’s restorative properties.

What it is:
A substance made of fermented radish root.
What it does:

What it is:
Menthly Lactate is the ester of menthol and lactic acid.
What it does:
It both prevents and promotes healing for sun damage.
How it works:
It is a long-lasting, highly effective cooling agent and promotes healing in sun damage.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-7
What it is:
Peptides are protein fragments that can send messages to the skin.
What it does:
These peptides work together to enhance the production of collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid in the skin, helping to correct and prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
How it works:
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 is a 3 amino acid peptide. When collagen naturally breaks down in the skin, the resulting peptide fragments signal to the skin that it should get to work and create new collagen.
Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 is coupled with Tripeptide-1 - to form Matrixyl 3000TM (the most sold peptide in the world). This is a 4 amino acid peptide which works to reduce the signaling molecule called IL-6 (inteleukin-6) which promotes inflammation.

What it is:
A plant-based extract.

Superoxide Dismutase
What it is:
An antioxidant naturally found in the body that is a part of a class of enzymes that catalyze the dismutation of superoxide into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. It is also found in barley grass, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, wheatgrass, and most green plants.
What it does:
It breaks down oxygen molecules, calms the skin and may also protect against UV damage.

Squalane Oil (Plant-Based)
What it is:
Squalane Oil is derived from olives. It is hydrating, soothing, non-irritating and non-comedogenic and quickly absorbed by the skin. It is suitable for all skin types, from dry to sensitive to oily or breakout prone.
What it does:
Another form of Squalane Oil is naturally present in the skin lipid barrier, and prevents moisture loss while also restoring skin’s suppleness. It is an exceptional moisturizer and does not leave a greasy feel, absorbing well.
How it works:
Plant-based Squalane Oil has a natural affinity with the skin, as Squalane is one of the main components of sebum and the skin’s hydrolipidic film. The lipoproteins in Squalane Oil contain an anti-aging substance. It may also assist with prevention of cell damage. By protecting the skin cells from oxidation, plant-based Squalane Oil may assist further in slowing down the aging process.
